“I love his colors, the palette,” said Elizabeth von Guttman, founder of System Magazine, which celebrated Sander Lak’s Sies Marjan collection at Lower East Side hot spot The Flower Shop Sunday night. “It’s so refreshing when we’re living in a world that’s quite gloomy. There’s few designers who play with color and take that risk. It gives you a positive outlook on fashion,” she said.

In terms of color, the party did not disappoint. While Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott might have boasted a Kardashian or two, and Alexander Wang had his own “fest,” there are no other parties at NYFW that can boast a true Hollywood legend. We’re talking about Isabella Rossellini, who attended with her son, Roberto Rossellini, who just happened to close out the Sies Marjan show. Mother and son huddled in a corner of the bar (“It was amazing,” the actress said of the show), across the room from sound designer extraordinaire Michel Gaubert and his boyfriend, Ryan Aguilar, holding court at a table. Meanwhile, more of fashion’s favorites, like Theo Wenner, Alyx’s Jennifer Williams, Laura Love, Hamish Bowles, Pamela Love, Mickey Boardman, and Lynn Yaeger, split their time between the homey, nag champa–scented seats upstairs, and the thumping rec room space below (complete with models shooting pool, of course).

And of course, there was Mr. Lak, beaming and relieved after bowing for a collection in his own atelier, a feat that had turned his world upside down for the past week. This was his party, after all, at least the official one. We asked the designer how, unofficially, he really plans to celebrate.

“By sleeping at least 20 hours,” he said. A well-deserved treat, for sure.Read more at:formal dresses melbourne | formal dresses adelaide
